Tara Oldfield Photography, LLC

Welcome!

I'm a professional photographer in Longmont, Colorado, offering no-nonsense digital services in Boulder County and the greater Denver-metro area.  Stick with me and you'll get:

  • Simple pricing based on the duration of the shoot.  I don't hide costs in complicated "packages"... you pay me for the time I spend shooting, nothing more.
  • Full-resolution digital image files to use as you wish.  When you hire me for a shoot, you'll get the digital files of every photo I take (minus those with technical problems or that otherwise just didn't work out).  You can print these photos as many times as you like, use them on social networking sites and blogs, edit them, and do pretty much anything else you can think of.  There are only two restrictions: you cannot resell the photos, nor can you claim that someone other than myself was the photographer or owns the copyright.
  • Unlimited high-quality prints sold at cost.  All my printing is done by Mpix, a photo lab renowned for their stellar quality and quick delivery.  I don't make any profit on these prints.  I simply sell them to you at cost so that you have a convenient way to order prints from a lab whose quality and service I trust completely.  All sessions include a free 10" x 15" Mpix print so you can see the quality for yourself.  After your photo session, I'll send you an email once I have finished editing your photos.  You can then find your gallery at photos.taraoldfield.com and order whatever prints you wish, anytime you wish.

My standard pricing is $150 for the first hour plus $100/hour after that, billed in half-hour increments, for example:

Session Time Price
1 hour $150
1.5 hours $200
2 hours $250
2.5 hours $300
3 hours $350

Landscapes

I offer large, high-quality prints of my landscapes (printed by Mpix).  I'm also willing to shoot specific landscapes at your request, for which I charge my normal hourly rate.

Weddings

Weddings start at $2500 and include:

  • 1 hour engagement session.  This is a shoot of the couple together.  These photos are great for wedding invitations and announcements.  This Session can be extended at $50 for each additional half-hour.
  • 1 hour bridal session.  Weddings days are hectic, so this a relaxed session for getting glamorous shots of the bride in her wedding dress.  This session can be extended at $50 for each additional half-hour.
  • 5 hours at wedding and reception (2 photographers).  There are too many precious moments at a wedding for one photographer to possibly capture.  A pair of photographers can capture your wedding day in a candid, photo-journalistic style that will tell a story you will treasure forever.  The wedding day session can be extended at $200 for each additional hour.
  • 15 minutes of cinematic quality HD video (1080p).  Too much wedding day video can turn into a home movie no one wants to watch, but there are key moments that should be captured.  I normally video the exchange of vows, the toasts, and a candid moment or two, but I can focus on whatever you wish.  This video will be shot with none other than the amazing Canon 5D Mark II (watch Reverie for a taste of the video this camera can produce).

As always, you will receive the full-resolution image files of all the photos that my assistant and I take, along with the HD video. You can order unlimited high-quality prints through me at cost and I grant you the rights to print the photos yourself, share them online, edit them, and do everything else that makes sense in this digital age.  When picking a wedding photographer, I encourage you to read the fine print carefully.  Why pay a wedding photographer thousands of dollars only to have them hold your dearest memories hostage?

Portraits

Rather than doing portraits in a studio, I use a portable wireless flash system and bring the studio to you.  Whether you need senior portraits, baby pictures, or a professional headshot, you will be more comfortable (and the photos more interesting) if you pick a location that is natural for you.  It could be your home, your place of business, a sports field, or other location that means something special to you.  Weather permitting, I especially recommend outdoor portraits... this is a beautiful area, and an outdoor portrait at sunset with the mountains in the background can be just stunning.

Portrait sessions are billed at my usual rate: $150 for the first hour and $50 for each additional half-hour.

Product Photography

I'm well equipped for small product photography (say from the size of a teacup to the size of a microwave).  With a portable flash system and product staging materials, I bring the studio to your place of business.

All my product photography is done with a 21 megapixel full-frame camera, giving you enough resolution for poster size prints and beyond.  Full-resolution digital image files and liberal licensing allow you to use these product shots on your website, incorporate them into ads (editing however you wish), use them at trade shows, and whatever else you need.  There are only two restrictions: you cannot resell the photos, nor can you claim that someone other than myself was the photographer or owns the copyright.

High-quality product shots can greatly boost the prestige of a small business.  Product photography sessions are billed at my usual rate: $150 for the first hour and $50 for each additional half-hour.

Food Photography

With the same portable equipment that I use for product photography, I bring the studio to the most natural location for food photography: your restaurant.  Give your website, menu, and ads new appeal with fresh photos of your restaurant's fine dishes.

Food photography sessions are billed at my usual rate: $150 for the first hour and $50 for each additional half-hour.
